An MBA Study Tour To China Kick-Started AirShr
When I joined the full-time MBA program at AGSM in 2013 I didn’t know my post graduate destiny. The MBA to me was a career reset. My hypothesis going into the course was that being exposed to a rich learning environment would help reveal new career opportunities, it was my way of creating my own luck.
As the idea of being able to save and share a radio moment started to crystallise, I began optimising my subjects for knowledge around building a technology venture. The motive to learn the knowledge I needed to build AirShr was potent and it provided the strongest focus on learning I’ve ever experienced. And I admit, when I started the part-time executive MBA years before, I worked through subjects to ‘check the box’ so the contrast in learning mindset couldn’t have been more different.
Now I appreciate an MBA isn’t for everyone. However if you plan to study and you have an entrepreneurial itch to scratch, optimise your chosen study path to help turn your idea into a business model which you can prototype again, again and again. You have access to resources, new networks, time and educators who have a vested interest in your success. It’s the perfect new idea incubation environment, use it!
Here’s how it played out for AirShr with a little additional insight on why Asia continues to be central to AirShr’s future.
P.S. After watching this you’d be forgiven for thinking I was focused on winning a frowning competition. Bright studio lights will do that to you 😉.
